Benign Paroxsysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV): An algorithm for clinicians
Dalton Gilligan, PT, DPT
Symptoms without nystagmus
It is the opinion of the author that if symptoms are present, but nystagmus is not noted then other canals should be investigated prior to performing the maneuver. This will ensure the correct canal is treated, and prevent the patient from going through an unneccessary maneuver.

Additionally, examining all canals in scenarios such as these will help the clinician determine BPPV versus other pathology.
